Interfacing TackTick Instruments with MFD a97
I just recently had a EV-100 Autopilot as well as an a97 MFD installed on my sailboat. I am interested in linking the wireless TackTick interface with the MFD. It have the wind, speed, and depth package.

I understand there may be multiple ways of doing this, however, I am unsure of what equipment is required.

Does the a97 receive NMEA 0183 V2.30 automatically or does it only receive NMEA 2000 sentences?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

nvallettejr12,

The NMEA 0183 OUT terminals of the TackTick Wireless Interface may be interfaced the NMEA 0183 IN2 leads found on the MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable. The MFD's NMEA 0183 Port 2 would need to be configured to "NMEA 4800". No other settings need be configured.

RE: Interfacing TackTick Instruments with MFD a97
Thanks Chuck,

Where would I find about 10-15 feet of NMEA 0183 cable? Also how do I access the NMEA 0183 Port 2 settings to configure it on the a97?

nvallettejr12,

Commonly available marine grade twisted pair signal cable should be used to extend NMEA 0183 leads of the MFD's Power/NMEA 0183/Video Input Cable.

The MFD's NMEA Port 2 is configured via the command sequence HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->NMEA SET-UP->NMEA INPUT PORT 2.
