Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Larry,
While the CP470's Installation Instructions indicate that the CP470's power circuit may be connected to an in-line fuse which in turn may be connected to to the battery's terminals, the Installation Instructions also recommend that the CP470 be powered via a distribution panel featuring breakers or a switched circuit protected by fuse. Should the equipment be switched ON and the transducer be pinging, then pinging will cease within a few minutes after the MFD has been switched OFF. Pinging should not resume until the MFD is switched ON again. The danger in having a transducer ping for extended periods when out of the water is that the transducer element(s) may overheat and fail ... this is particularly true for high power CHIRP transducers. In this case, it is recommended that the transducer be tested to determine whether the fault is resident within the transducer or within the CP470. |
