What should I connect my mechanical linear drive's leads to?

The heavier gauge red and black leads of a Raymarine mechanical linear drive are its motor (power) leads. These leads will be connected to the autopilot course computer or Evolution ACU's MOTOR A / B terminals. As autopilot drive units feature reversing DC motors, should it be determined the rudder is moving in the opposite direction to that commanded by the autopilot control head, then one would simply swap the drive unit motor lead connections to the autopilot course computer or Evolution ACU's MOTOR A / B terminals. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

The lighter gauge red and blue leads a Raymarine mechanical linear drive are its clutch leads. These leads will be connected to the autopilot course computer or Evolution ACU's CLUTCH+ and CLUTCH- terminals respectively.
