Early VesselView systems required a SmartCraft to NMEA 2000 Gateway (available from Mercury Marine) to communicate with the vessel's marine electronics SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Later VesselView displays feature a NMEA 2000 port, permitting the VesselView display to be interfaced as a spur to the vessel's marine electronics SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone.
