Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bruce,
The hump which you have referenced houses a circuit board with a transformer and a few large capacitors. That said, such breaches to a product's case would quite possibly void the product's warranty. Ram offers mounts having flat bases to accommodate the MFD's trunion bracket. Additionally, the pod / mounting surface in which the MFD will be installed must have sufficient clearances to satisfy the requirements specified within the a-Series Product Dimensions section of Chapter 3.13 Selecting a location of the a/c/e-Series MFD Installation Instructions. |
