RE: [CA11] ST6002 SmartPilot X-5 linear drive unit power supply
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Jim,

The reported problem may be indicative of a failure of the autopilot course computer or a drive unit which is in need of service (drawing too much power). This problem may be fault isolated by disconnecting the drive unit's motor leads from the drive unit and then connecting a voltmeter to the autopilot course computer's motor terminals. The autopilot control head would then be commanded into Auto mode (press the control head's AUTO button) and then the +10 button would be pressed three times in rapid succession. The measured voltage across the motor terminals should be approximately 6.9VDC. If a lower voltage is measured, then the autopilot course computer should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced. If expected voltage is observed, then the linear drive unit should be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
