[CA11] Adding WiFi to E120 classic
I just purchased a new boat that included some older Raymarine equipment. While the screen resolution is less than ideal it will meet my current needs. I’d like to add WiFi output so I can use an IPad app and get all my critical data output (vessel position, heading, SOG, depth, etc) to a navigation app. My current system is as follows:
Pilothouse E120 classic Depth sounder and ST6001 auto pilot connected via Seatalk AIS input to MFD NMEA 0183 input 400G AST course computer input from MFD NMEA 0183 output Flybridge E80 classic (I think connected via Ethernet and slave to E120) Remote autopilot The E120 has an open NMEA 2000 port on the back. Does Raymarine offer a device that will allow me to output all my critical data to WiFi? Or is there an alternative 3rd party solution? I’ve found a device YWDG-02 that supposedly outputs NMEA 2000 to WiFi but not sure if I connect this to the MFD NMEA 2000 port it will work. Thanks |

RE: [CA11] Adding WiFi to E120 classic
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Wdeertz,
Q1. Does Raymarine offer a device that will allow me to output all my critical data to WiFi? Or is there an alternative 3rd party solution? A1. Unfortunately, Raymarine does not offer NMEA 2000 to Wi-Fi or NMEA 2000 to Wi-Fi accessories. However, such accessories are available from third party manufacturers such as Digital Yacht, NMEA Tools, Brookouse, Yacht Devices, VYACHT,etc. Q2. I’ve found a device YWDG-02 that supposedly outputs NMEA 2000 to WiFi but not sure if I connect this to the MFD NMEA 2000 port it will work. A2. In such applications, - the E-Series Classic MFDs must be operating with v5.69 E-Series Classic MFD software, and - the Data Master MFD and NMEA 2000 device(s) must each be interfaced as a spur to a powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Only the Data Master MFD will communicate with the system's SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Raymarine offers the A06061 E-Series Classic MFD to SeaTalkng Spur Cable. |

RE: [CA11] Adding WiFi to E120 classic
Chuck, thanks for the reply this is most helpful, have ordered the cable and seatalkNG starter kit to connect a 3rd party NMEA WiFi device.
I have 3 NMEA 0183 inputs I need to input to the E120 mfd. I think I need a multiplexor to accomplish this. Can you recommend which Raymarine multiplexor I need to input 3 NMEA 0183 inputs to the E120 mfd? Thanks |

RE: [CA11] Adding WiFi to E120 classic
Wdeertz,
Should all three NMEA 0183 talkers be transmitting at 4800 BAUD, then Raymarine's E55059 NMEA 0183 Multiplexer or a similar third party product would be recommended. However, should one of the devices support 38400 BAUD communications, then we would typically recommend that a programmable NMEA 0183 multiplexer (ex. Actisense NDC-4-USB, etc.) be used. |
