RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Happy Holidays Chuck et al!
The wx in the Pacific NW and holidays have not allowed for testing yet. Later this week looks promising I have found a slightly used CP370 and would acquire it if I can interface it appropriately....so.... I assume: Q1. I would use a RayNet Ethernet type cable to interface directly from the CP370 to Axiom 7RV unit. I do not have a network switch at this time. Q2. I can and should directly connect my existing B744V transducer to the CP370...without a need for any adapters? Per our earlier exchange we confirmed my older version of the B744V did physically fit the old DSM25 without need for any kind of adapter.... Q3. I directly power with 12vdc the CP370 Q4. I remove the previously installed Y-cable that joined the RV100 and older B744V transducers and directly connect the RV100 to the Axiom7RV Thanks! Doug |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Chuck,
Per my question regarding using the older Depth/Speed(through water)/Temperature B744V (model above in threadj ..... to connect to a CP370. With or without an adapter? I realize the Speed (through the water paddlewheel sensor) will likely not function with the CP370. I dont care...as I don’t utilize speed through the water ...can I connect the 7-pin B744 to the CP370? ....knowing no Speed function Thx |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
OK.... sorry for the multiple threads....I just keep finding new information on the Forum mostly from you
From your answer to a similar vein of questions “Four versions of the B744V transducer are currently available..... 1). an analog instrument version, 2). a NMEA 2000 version, 3). a version designed for use with Ax5-Series Classic MFDs, ax7/cx7/e7d/ex7/eSx7 MFDs, This must be the one I have as it mates to an A65 Clasic MFD with DSM25? 4). and for the CP370/CP300/DSM30/DSM300). The version which is designed to be directly mated to the CP370/CP300/DSM30/DSM300 is the A66091 version of the B744V. Given this....is there an adapter from type 3) B744V to a new CP370...that I will buy if it will work |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Chuck, I hope you do see my last couple of replies? And I apologize for the piecemeal questions as i peel the onion?
Regarding the connection of the “old style†pre-2009 B744V transducer cable I found buried on the Airmar website a reference to an adapter cable 33-562-01 which “may†allow me to connect the 7-pin old B744V transducer cable to the new CP370. Is this correct? So in recap of the question(s) Q. Do I direct connect the B744V to the CP370, using the old transducer....with the above adapter? Or Q. Do i use my existing Y-cable and bring both transducers (RV100 and B744V) and then link the Axiom 7RV to the CP370 via the RayNet ethernet cable ....am I lost? Thanks Doug |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Doug,
Q1. I would use a RayNet Ethernet type cable to interface directly from the CP370 to Axiom 7RV unit. I do not have a network switch at this time. A1. Should the Axiom 7 RV MFD's Ethernet Network (RayNet) socket not be in use, then the CP370 would simply be interfaced to the MFD's Ethernet Network socket via an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable. Q2. I can and should directly connect my existing B744V transducer to the CP370...without a need for any adapters? Per our earlier exchange we confirmed my older version of the B744V did physically fit the old DSM25 without need for any kind of adapter.... A2. Negative. Any chance of adapting the currently installed B744V would require an A-Series to CP370 Adapter to be mated to the adapter which had been used for the DSM25 ... these are no longer offered by Raymarine ... you may want to check with Gemeco to determine whether Airmar, Inc. still offers these. Q3. I directly power with 12vdc the CP370 A3. The CP370 is designed to be powered from a switched 12VDC or 24VDC power circuit. Q4. I remove the previously installed Y-cable that joined the RV100 and older B744V transducers and directly connect the RV100 to the Axiom7RV A4. Correct. |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Doug,
Q. can I connect the 7-pin B744 to the CP370? ....knowing no Speed function A. Speed/temp is not a requirement for the CP370. See my prior response about contacting Gemeco for an adapter. |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality
Q3). a version designed for use with Ax5-Series Classic MFDs, ax7/cx7/e7d/ex7/eSx7 MFDs,
This must be the one I have as it mates to an A65 Clasic MFD with DSM25? A3. This is incorrect. Note the case of the letter specified within the "ax7/cx7/e7d/ex7/eSx7" MFDs. These MFDs neither required nor could be interfaced to a DSM25. The A60 and A65 Chartplotter Fishfinders on the other hand utilized the DSM25. Q4). and for the CP370/CP300/DSM30/DSM300). The version which is designed to be directly mated to the CP370/CP300/DSM30/DSM300 is the A66091 version of the B744V. A4. This is correct. The version of the B744V pre-dates the DSM25 and was designed for a stand-alone fishfinder. |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality

A1. As you may recall, it was previously specified that your transducer was not designed to be directly mated to a DSM25. It was designed for an earlier model of transducer and had been adapted to be mated to the DSM25. Any such possible use with a CP370 or with an Axiom RV MFD (via Y-Cable) would require double adaptation (i.e. use of the existing adapter and Y-Cable or adapter to make it compatible with the CP370). It is recommended that Gemeco (Airmar's US distributor) be contacted with your transducer's product ID and that you request them to identify whether they offer a transducer adapter cable to adapt your transducer for use with a CP370. As has been specified previously, Raymarine no longer offers adapters to adapt A-Series style transducers (i.e. transducers which had been designed to be directly (no adaptation) to the transducer socket of a DSM30, A50D, A57D, A70D, or az7/cx7/e7D/ex7/eSx7 MFD) to be mated to a CP370. Such adapters were dropped from Raymarine's accessories ... in part due to performance issues ... hence our reluctance to endorse / guarantee continued use to this transducer with either the Axiom RV MFD's Y-Cable or CP370. |
