[CA11] SPx10 upgrade
Greetings,
I'm looking to upgrade my AP on my boat from an SPx10 to an Evolution, and had a couple questions. Current equipment: Raymarine - Axiom XL 16 SP70 SPx10 Quantum 2 Furuno - TZTL12F DFF3D SC33 Nobeltec - Timezero Pro w PBG using DFF3D Question - In the Evolution autopilot it calls for using an EV1. Does this unit do more than just the 9 axis sensing? Reason I ask is the Furuno SC33 I have installed does all of this already, just wondering if I can use that existing data and skip the EV1, or is the EV1 also the course computer? Thanks in advance, Rob |

RE: [CA11] SPx10 upgrade
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Rob,
Question - In the Evolution autopilot it calls for using an EV1. Does this unit do more than just the 9 axis sensing? A1. Yes. In addition to 9-axis sensing, the EV-1/EV-2 CCUs are responsible for the course computation & correction aspects of a traditional autopilot. In legacy raymarine modular autopilot designs, course computation and actuator control were both performed within a single component known as the course computer (ex. Type 100/300, Type 150/400, S1/S2/S3, S1G/S2G/S3G, X5, X10, X30, etc.). Within Evolution autopilots, the actuator control has been broken out into a separate component referred to as the ACU. An EV-1/EV-2 CCU must be included within every Evolution autopilot system. |
