RE: [CA11] Polars now in Lighthouse
John,

Q. Why wouldn't a through hull 50kHz/200kHz fishfinder transducer featuring a paddle wheel be a good way to provide STW since it would connect directly to the MFD.
A. As speed through water transducers feature non-linear error, utilizing a system supporting multi-point STW calibration will ensure greatest STW accuracy across a broader range of speeds. The Fishfinder application supports a single speed offset, and as such would be most accurate at the speed that the vessel was operating when calibrated. As such, those who are serious about performance sailing (i.e. anyone seeking to maximize the use of the MFD advanced sailing features) will opt for a system supporting multi-point STW calibration.
