Hello Wouter,

If the DPU's Seatalk1 has indeed failed then that may be your only real option to get them connected. NMEA183's main problem is not that it's slow, but that it can cause problems (data loops) if you connect bi-directionally. If you only need to get heading and rudder from the SPX to the ST290 OR wind from the ST290 to the SPX then 0183 should do that fine - but you should avoid trying to connect in both directions. What can happen there is that the same data gets (re)transmitted by each device and you end up with stale data cycling round in a loop.
