Dan,

Q. Could I use a regular STng spur cable on the yellow port of the converter, remove the STng connector from the other end, and use pin 1 (+12) to NMEA 0183 grey and pin 6 (ST1) to NEMA purple as you show in the FAQ?
A. Doing as you have suggested is not recommended. As you have the left over RS125 cable, this cable would be quite satisfactory for use in creating the required NMEA 0183 extension cable.
