[CA11] Axiom 7 STng to ST1 integration
Hello
You have helped me many times in the past. A friend of mine is piecing together a Old / New Raymarine System with an Axiom 7 and a A98 to a Sport Pilot. I've attached a diagram. Can I get away without powering the STng network? If not, can I just use a T connector and add power there with a Backbone to the converter? My friend is on a tight budget and is trying to spend as little as possible. Please let me know Thanks Eric 1999 Sea Ray 370 Express Cruiser Hardtop Twin 8.1 Horizons, ZF Hurth Transmissions, Axiom Pro 12 Axiom 12 Quantum II Radar Real Vision 3D 1kW CHIRP sonar B275 Transducer Ray 60 VHF ACU 150 Autopilot P70R Smart Remote https://photos.app.goo.gl/UKDm91zlSwlPhCQ12 |

RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 STng to ST1 integration
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Eric,
Q. Can I get away without powering the STng network? If not, can I just use a T connector and add power there with a Backbone to the converter? A. While it is possible to backfeed power from a SeaTalkbus into a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone via a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter, it is considered a best installation practice to not do so. If seeking to follow the best installation practice, it would be recommended that the red power lead of the SeaTalk Cable connecting the ST60 Tridata instrument to the terminal strip not be used. Instead, this lead should be clipped and insulated to prevent shorting. A SeaTalkng spur socket would then be added to the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone to accommodate the SeaTalkng Power Cable supplied with the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter Kit. The SeaTalkng Power Cable would be connected to a switched 12VDC power circuit. |

Thanks fro your reply
See attached schematic per your advice. Will this work? I removed the red wire to the ST60, but left it on for the ST6001 and Sportpilot - Correct? I also added a Tee and a backbone cable to add power to the STng network. Eric,
The updated diagram which had been attached to your last post appears correct. |
